Top 5

My 5 Favorite Gallery Memories (of maybe 11 memories total, I need to see more art).

5. Winslow Homer painting at the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga in 2006.
On a solo trip to see Mark down in Tennessee. Museum is perched above the river, great views. On this trip we also went to see The Departed.

4. Edward Hopper painting at the Art Institute of Chicago in 2001.
On a trip to the Windy City over fall break. Stevie, Jason and Ade were gracious enough to go with the art student and spend a decent chunk of the day indoors. Also on this trip I stayed in the worst hotel room of my life.

3. Alphonse Mucha posters at the Indianapolis Museum of Art this past year.
On the first day away from the new kid. She and the wife went to see her mom, so I went to see French posters and There Will Be Blood at the theater. I also remember eating at Blimpie (hadn't done that since college).

2. John Singer Sargent paintings at the Cincinnati Museum of Art in 2004.
After seeing my wife off at the airport for her 5 week study in Mexico. I was pretty sad. It was nice to see some of my favorite painter's work. I then ate a cheeseburger at Johnny Rockets and headed back to Fortville.

1. Both Renoir paintings & Degas drawings and paintings at the Musee D'Orsay in 2001.
My college trip to France with Amy and Jason to see the James'. I enjoyed this museum more than the Louvre. More concise. I know what those Americans who ran through the Louvre in that Godard movie were thinking.

Thursday night we had the pleasure of hosting rositagordita, tafkas and dreamaway13 for dessert on our back patio. It is always grand to spend time with old friends. We discussed how the middle east is boring, learned about a Rose Hulman grad from SoCal, brainstormed how one effectively punishes children at church who are not one's own and wondered what the cops were saying to our neighbors a couple doors down (they had been yelling outside, I bet it had to do with that).

A great game 1. Last year's finals were not very fun to watch. If this keeps up it will be a great series. I think that Pierce coming back was pretty dramatic, fans coming to their feet and all. I got a few goose-bumps (even though I did wonder how he could come back out after looking like he was due for an amputation a few minutes prior. But ESPN.com was reporting that he was indeed having a hard time getting around after the game. We shall see if it affects him Sunday). I am pulling for Boston in this one and you have to imagine that Kobe is going to bounce back with a vengeance in this series. Some of the shots he did hit were pretty amazing. Watching him sometimes does remind me of watching Jordan.

If NBA basketball was always so intense and electrifying, people would care about it before May. My proposal is to cut 6 teams, making the league have 24 total. Then make the regular season 62 games instead of 82. And finally, make the first round of the playoffs best of 3, the next round best of 5 and then best of 7 for the conference finals and the finals.

For Sale: One wooden wheelchair ramp. Decent condition. Somewhat splintery. Some sections bolted together and others nailed. Date of construction unknown. It can be yours for the price of shipping/delivery.

Yep. We are losing the wheelchair ramp on the back of our house. More than likely it will end up at the Hamilton County Transfer Station (the dump). I'm sure it served the previous owners well. Our nieces got some fun out of it, but perhaps even more splinters.

Last weekend we saw Mark in Tennessee and had a nice time. Our kid behaved herself and the weather was grand. We missed seeing Clay unfortunately, but it just didn't work out.

Question(s) of the day: does your church have a gym (subquestions: how many people go to your church and how many of them would you say are athletic types that would use a gym)?

After a conversation on our Tenn. trip, I became aware of the possibility that indoor basketball courts (gyms) are a less common part of churches in Chatt. than in Indy. So I began to wonder if it were merely we Hoosiers who have been persuaded that every large eclesiastical meeting room that can not be easily converted into a suitable place to play "knockout" (or "lightening" as I have heard it called) screams of inefficiency.

PS- my church has no gym (I believe 2 of the 6 Indy network PCA churches have gyms) yet we have goals in the parking lot. About 200 people go to our church and I'd say 11 or so are athletic.

It got to 70˚ today with a lot of sun later on (and wind unfortunately). Tomorrow, when my wife runs 9.3 miles in downtown Indianapolis (in preparation for the 13+ miles she will run there in a few weeks) it will be in the high 30˚s. I must say, I am ready for the nice weather to stick around for good. But this is Indiana after all.

Last weekend was great. We pulled out the grille and enjoyed the first brats of the season.

Anyway, what was the weather like today where you are?
